It is constrained to the stored rationale attached to each question, so it explains that reasoning rather than generating clinical facts of its own. Questions and rationales are AI-generated and machine-audited; they have not been reviewed by a licensed clinician. Shortless removes the infinite-scroll short-form feeds (YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, and Snapchat Spotlight) from Safari on iPhone and iPad, and leaves the rest of each site working normally: regular YouTube videos, Instagram photos, and Snapchat messages stay. Each platform has its own toggle. A Time Reclaimed dashboard, a scroll-free streak, and home and lock screen widgets show what you've taken back. It works in Safari only; iOS does not let content blockers change other browsers or native apps.

Scrollometer takes the time you spend in the apps you choose and turns it into how far you've scrolled: feet, then miles, then landmarks. It shows today's distance, your history, and a weekly recap you can share if you want to. A Methodology screen shows the exact arithmetic behind every number. The figures are estimates, and the app says so wherever it shows one: iOS reports time spent, not scrolling, so Scrollometer multiplies that time by typical scroll speed for each app and the height of your screen. No streaks, no badges, no leaderboards. Requires iOS 17 and Screen Time access.

Martin Apps LLC is a single-founder Alabama limited liability company. We build small, focused mobile and reference applications for two audiences we know well: healthcare learners and clinicians who need accurate teaching tools, and outdoor users operating in environments where connectivity is unreliable and decisions have consequences.
Our products are not general-purpose. They are narrow, deep, and held to standards appropriate for the context: clinical accuracy in healthcare education; sourced and citeable content in the outdoor reference category; offline-first design wherever a user might be cut off from the network when they need the app most.
We also make two small screen-time tools, Shortless and Scrollometer, for people who want some of their attention back. Like everything else here, they keep your data on your device.
We do not build attention-economy products. Our apps do not contain advertising, do not sell user data, and do not optimize for engagement metrics that are uncorrelated with whether the user actually got the answer they needed.
How we work
Three commitments distinguish Martin Apps products from general-purpose alternatives in the same categories:
Clinician- or practitioner-designed
Every product is led by someone with active domain experience. BoardBound and Burn Wizard are built by a DNP-prepared nurse practitioner with a clinical background in pediatric critical care and pediatric neuro-oncology. Wilderness Survival Companion was sourced and structured against authoritative survival doctrine, not crowd-sourced advice.
Sources are explicit
For BoardBound's AI tutor, every clinical explanation is grounded in the stored rationale attached to the question; the model is prompted to refuse rather than fabricate when the rationale doesn't support a claim. Questions and rationales are AI-generated and machine-audited; they have not been reviewed by a licensed clinician. Burn Wizard's calculations (Lund-Browder, Parkland, Holliday-Segar) are established clinical formulas with their methodology explained transparently in-app. Wilderness Survival Companion traces every field tool and reference page back to a citable source (FM 21-76, SAS, CDC, NOAA).
Built to work when the network can't
Burn Wizard and Wilderness Survival Companion are fully offline. BoardBound caches its question bank locally so review sessions don't stall on a flaky cell signal at the library or in the hospital basement. Connectivity-resilient design is a design constraint across the portfolio, not an afterthought.
Standards and validation
We treat content accuracy as a product feature, not a marketing line. Concrete examples:
BoardBound ships with an internal evaluation harness ("BoardBound Bench") that grades the AI tutor against a 100-case golden set on every change to the production prompt. Refusal canaries (PHI handling, jailbreak resistance) must pass at 100% or the change is blocked. Fidelity must clear a per-category floor or the change is blocked. The harness runs against a production-mirror of the prompt and uses an LLM-as-judge with rationale-aware grading; we publish the per-category pass rate in our internal release notes for every prompt iteration.
Burn Wizard teaches only well-established clinical methods (Lund-Browder, Parkland, Holliday-Segar) and displays an unambiguous educational-only disclaimer at app launch, on the assessment screen, and on every calculation result. The app is filed under Apple's Education primary category (Medical secondary) precisely because it teaches; it is not a clinical decision-support device and does not market itself as one.
Wilderness Survival Companion sources every reference entry from primary survival doctrine and tags each with the source. Edible-plant entries include explicit toxic-lookalike warnings rather than encouraging field identification by visual similarity alone. Calculators use established NOAA / CDC / National Weather Service algorithms.
Across the portfolio, we include explicit non-medical-advice and non-affiliation language where applicable. We are not affiliated with AANPCB® or ANCC® (BoardBound), with any burn center, professional society, or regulatory body (Burn Wizard), or with any government, military, or rescue agency (Wilderness Survival Companion).
Founder
Perry Martin, DNP, MSN, RN is the founder and developer behind Martin Apps LLC. He completed his Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2026 in the family nurse practitioner track, with a clinical background in pediatric critical care and pediatric neuro-oncology nursing prior to graduate school. He has shipped multiple iOS applications independently, writes the code for Martin Apps products himself, and directs their content. Where content is model-generated, the product pages say so.
The combination of an active clinical credential and a working software practice is intentional: it keeps the products honest about what they can and cannot claim, and it makes the founder personally liable for the accuracy of what ships. There is no "growth team" optimizing for retention metrics that diverge from user outcomes.
